Join us for our final outing for the year when we cross the Brisbane River in the heart of the City a number of times and walk along its winding banks, viewed both at water level and high above!
Many of us don’t visit the city centre very often and most will have never walked some of our iconic bridges. (Please note we cater for those choosing a shorter walk option based at Southbank.) We park and gather between 1.30pm and 2.00pm at the GUYATT PARK City Cat Stop located off the Fred Schonell Drive at St Lucia on the road to UQ and catch the City Cat down to the stops at Southbank and QUT Gardens - the latter group doing the longer 8km outing walk across the Goodwill Bridge to meet up with those at Southbank for an afternoon tea in the shade of the river side trees adjacent to the City Cat Stop. (An ice cream might also be welcomed here.) All walkers then make their way across the new Neville Bonner Bridge to enter the Queens Wharf precinct and up to the 23rd floor Sky Deck for spectacular views across Brisbane. Even the faint hearted will enjoy this! The main group walks on across to the CBD to cross the Kurilpa Bridge and then the Go Between Bridge for our final stretch along the Milton reach to the City Cat Stop there and our connection back to Guyatt Park, just before dark.
What to Bring? Summer walking gear, rain jacket, afternoon tea to carry, hat and sunscreen, water and GO CARD. Shared transport is encouraged. City Cats and the walk are wheelchair friendly.
